Business owners say they are petitioning the Department of Transportation to make the intersection at East Tremont and Silver avenues safer.
Pedestrians say the crossing is one of the most dangerous in the borough. Residents say the intersection is confusing because Overing Street also intersects, which means cars are coming from three different directions.
Residents say there is never a lull in traffic and crossing East Tremont Avenue is like crossing a five-lane highway. Members of the local community board are meeting to work on a plan to resolve the issue.
Business owners say their petition to the DOT asks the department to conduct a traffic study of the intersection.
