Sleepy Hollow and Ossining hosted a charity plunge Saturday.
About 50 participants dove into the freezing Hudson River in their bathing suits.
The plungers did not last too long in the water, but they did raise about $50,000 for a worthy cause. The Gulotta House will buy a car for a struggling family and provide the children of a deceased veteran a scholarship. The organization will hold on to about $10,000 for a future plan.
"We're trying to buy a house or build a house, four or five bathrooms for fire and flood victims only, because I was in a fire and we want to make sure they get to spend 29 days for free," said Matthew Gullotta, of the Gullotta House.
