The State Education Department is commemorating National Disability Employment Awareness Month by honoring 53 businesses across the state for their exceptional efforts in employing individuals with disabilities.
Commissioner Betty Rosa praised these businesses for their outstanding commitment.
Members of the department's vocational rehabilitation program will host events throughout the month to recognize these employers.
Among the recognized businesses are West Nyack Target (with over 100 disabled employees), White Plains Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, Regal Cinema in Nanuet, and Beckerle Lumber Supply Company in Spring Valley.
This initiative is part of the department's broader plan to ensure that people with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement.
