A synagogue in Croton-On-Hudson is acting as a central hub for the needed supplies to help evacuees from Hurricane Katrina.
Many of the goods collected at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester were packed Sunday and are now heading south. Congregants working inside the central hub barely had room to move around due to the plethora of generous contributions.
The temple packs and ships donations received at three other synagogues and various groups throughout Westchester. The donations will be going to a distribution site already set up in Mississippi.
A spokesperson for Temple Israel says the relief drive is just beginning.
