A 15-year-old skateboarder from Orange County was hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday after being hit by cadillac.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Brookside and Academy avenues in the Village of Chester at around 9:30 a.m.
The impact from the collision cracked the windshield of the black Cadillac CTS and sent the boy's baseball cap and sneakers flying.
Police say the teen, whose name has not been released, sustained several injuries but was conscious when he was flown to a hospital.
According to police, the driver of the cadillac was not ticketed.
Local residents say the area around Brookside and Academy avenues is popular among teens who ride skateboards.
?The speed limit is 40 miles an hour,? says Earl Kirkland, of Chester. ?[It] shouldn't be 40 miles an hour in this congested area. [They] should lower it to 30 miles an hour.?
Following the accident, police took pictures and measurements of the accident scene in an attempt to reconstruct what happened at the time of the collision.
The accident shut down the intersection for hours, causing traffic back-ups throughout Orange County.
