Dozens of volunteers from around New Rochelle gathered in front of City Hall the past three days to install 3,000 flags on the front lawn ahead of Sept. 1.
Peter Parente, the president of the United Veterans Memorial of New Rochelle, says there were at least 40 to 50 people there Wednesday night and at least 40 to 50 people Tuesday night from all walks of life.
"Regardless of creed, color, religion. And one good thing that's the common denominator is that we're all American," says Parente.
A candlelight vigil will be held in front of City Hall Sept. 11
