Voters streaming into election centers today will decide the fate of several Hudson Valley school districts.
Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) predicted today that many local school budgets will be defeated, mostly because many of them come with a tax increase.
If voters turn down the budgets today, those districts can propose a new plan and allow a revote June 15 or implement a contingency budget.
In Warick, voter turnout looks to be high as residents consider a budget with a $1.4 million drop in state aid. That forced district officials to put forth a budget that cuts 11 teaching jobs in an attempt to keep school taxes low.
