Family and friends said their final goodbyes Friday to the 7-year-old girl who was killed in a car accident in New Jersey over the weekend.
"Maiyah was a princess on earth, and she went to heaven as an angel," says Maiyah VanDunk's great-grandmother Jacqueline McCann.
Lindsey Warren, VanDunk's mother, remained composed at the wake Friday, standing among dozens of mourners. Warren says she has to be strong for the sake of her daughter's unborn sister.
Police say VanDunk died Saturday after her father, 24-year-old Thomas VanDunk, lost control of the Jeep he was driving along Route 23 in Wantage, N.J. According to authorities, Maiyah VanDunk was in the front seat.
Family say VanDunk's father and her two siblings who were also in the car at the time of the accident are expected to recover.
Police say no charges have yet been filed in connection with the fatal crash.
