A new exhibit hopes to help youth break down barriers and build mutual respect by challenging perspectives at Highland Middle School in White Plains.

"We are White Plains" is an interactive exhibit created by Common Circles.

The mission of Common Circles is to create interactive experiences that increase empathy, decrease bias and antisemitism, and get people thinking about how they treat one another.

 One way to do that is to see people they know, like teachers and their school principal, presented in different clothing.

The exhibit has traveled to all middle and high schools in White Plains over the last month.

The interactive experience allows students to speak directly to a living Holocaust survivor named Anita Lasker-Wallfisch.

The exhibit is timely as incidents of hate and antisemitism make headlines across the tri-state area. 

Teachers say the combination of art and technology has helped reach this generation in a profound way.

Common Circles is planning to bring this exhibit to other school districts in the area next school year.
