Police sources say a 25-year-old mother was charged after officers found her 1-month-old boy dead inside of their Flatbush apartment.
“I turn the corner [of the hallway], and I see that there’s a woman moderately aged,” said Niaz Femd, a neighbor. “She probably looks like a grandma or something; but she was resting her head over here on the wall. Then I just see a swarm of cops.”
“We saw cops, then we saw detectives, then we saw a captain roll through,” said Christopher Kinney, another neighbor.
Police said they found the infant, Adonnys Kendall, inside of a 7th floor apartment.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Gynae Kendall, who police sources said is the baby’s mother.
Neighbors told News 12 that they rarely saw or interacted with Kendall, but she did not seem suspicious.
“Other than her being loud and noisy, where you can hear things [like music] booming out of the apartment, never anything that made me think there was anything suspicious other than the guy,” said Kinney.
That “guy,” multiple neighbors said, often stayed in the same apartment and had a history of harassing tenants.
“He would talk, like, ask sexual questions or just try to get close to [the tenants],” said Samantha DeJesus, another neighbor.
As of Tuesday, police could not provide any information about the unidentified man, who has not been arrested or charged.
Kendall is charged with concealment of a human corpse.
News 12 reached out to her family, but one man claiming to be Kendall’s brother declined to comment.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is determining the official cause of death.
