The Valhalla Union Free School District has joined other districts in the region by extending its Memorial Day weekend.

The district made the announcement via Facebook this morning following last week's Board of Education meeting, during which the district calendar was amended. Schools will now be closed on May 24, extending Memorial Day weekend to a four-day break.

This decision was made to accommodate for unused snow days, ensuring that students and staff have additional time off. Valhalla is the latest school district in the region to make such adjustments due to the surplus of snow days.

Additionally, Pleasantville Schools will also be closed on May 24, while Nyack Schools will follow suit on the May 28.
