A fire broke out Wednesday on a Metro-North train in Tuckahoe.

Metro-North officials say about 200 people were on board when the blaze broke out at the Crestwood station off Columbus Avenue.

"It was reported that doors on the train would not open, so it went from a normal electrical fire to 200 people trapped in a steel box," says Capt. Thomas Ferrara, of the Eastchester Fire Department. "So initially, until we got the doors open, that was a major concern."

An Eastchester Fire Department truck happened to be passing by the Crestwood station when the train pulled in and quickly put out the fire. Fire officials say no one was hurt.

Metro-North spokesman Dan Brucker says full service was restored by 4 p.m.
