An Orange County mother and son have been arrested for allegedly stealing prescription pads from a doctor's office and illegally filling them out to obtain medications.

Village of Walden police say it was a yearlong scam that took them a week to foil.They say the investigation led them to the mother and son, 63-year-old Ilona Nierenstein and 42-year-old Claude Hernandez.

Police say a local pharmacy tipped them off to the alleged scheme.

Police say more arrests are expected to be made in the case and additional charges will be filed against Nierenstein and Hernandez.
