Deerpark police have instituted a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to teen drivers breaking the law.
On Route 42, a 17-year-old was killed in a horrific car wreck. That accident inspired police to enforce a zero-tolerance policy. Also, teen driving has been in the spotlight in Orange County with traffic-related deaths. The most recent accident was on I-84 where three Port Jervis High School seniors died weeks before their graduation.
Police will not be letting off reckless teenage drivers with a warning anymore. There will be no plea bargaining for those who get caught, they will either have to plead guilty or go to trial.
