Experts are offering tips on staying safe during the summer.
They advise residents to never swim alone.
The Westchester County Health Department also urges residents to wear a life vest when boating.
It says to be sure to drink plenty of fluids while out in the sun, as dehydration is a major issue.
It is also recommended to constantly apply sunscreen to avoid sunburn or skin cancer.
