The civil rights attorney who is representing the family of slain Pace University student Danroy Henry has formally requested that local police and the Westchester District Attorney's office turn over the investigation to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Michael Sussman says that the leak of information about Henry allegedly being drunk proves that an independent investigation is needed.
"It increases the chance someone will cook the investigation," Sussman said about leaving the investigation in the local police department's hands.
The family, through Sussman, has said that whether or not Henry was at fault, it just wants to know the truth so it can have closure and peace of mind.
