The NAACP plans to meet with county officials after a message of hate was drawn on a blackboard at Suffern High School during a basketball game.

School officials say when the visiting team, Ramapo Freshman Center, returned to the locker room after a game last week they found a sentence with the ?N? word and a drawing depicting a hanging on a blackboard. The team is made up of predominately black and Hispanic players. Suffern officials apologized to the Ramapo Freshman Center team in a letter. There's also an ongoing investigation into who was responsible for the act of hate.

Principal Patrick Faherty says the incident isn't a reflection on all students at Suffern High School. However, he plans on taking action and dealing with the incident as a bias crime if a student is found responsible. A mother of a Ramapo team member and a representative from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) plan to meet with the county human rights commission on Monday to discuss strategies on addressing racism in schools.
