Workers at a power plant in Haverstraw held a rally yesterday in hopes of putting pressure on management for a fair contract.
Bill Merrit says he has worked as a fuel handler at the Bowline power plant for more than 20 years and today wore a picket sign because he doesn't like the way Mirant, the plant's parent company, is treating its workers.
"We want a fair contract. We've been trying to negotiate to get to that point and they've been stalling and dragging their feet and it's come to a head now," Merrit says.
Union members say if they don't get the contract they want, they'll return to the picket line.
