A man has been arrested by Ramapo police in a domestic assault at a Hillcrest home. Police say a woman told responding officers that her partner threw her phone and a remote control, choked her and threw her against the wall. The 58-year-old suspect told police that they started fighting after she refused to hold a flashlight for him. He was later arrested and arraigned in Ramapo court.
A retired Yonkers police officer admitted to arranging for his carting company to pay less than it was supposed to when dumping waste at a Yonkers transfer station. Robert Chomicki, 60, of Briarcliff Manor, pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud, according to court documents. He entered his plea on April 21 in Federal Court in White Plains. Chomicki faces sentencing in July. As part of his plea, he has agreed to pay approximately $640,000 in restitution. His carting company remains in business
A pair of men is behind bars after a drug bust in Ulster County. Troopers pulled over Jonathan Persaud from Queens on I-87 in Plattekill. Police say Persaud was traveling with Anthony Henry, also from Queens, who at first gave police another name and date of birth. Troopers say they searched their vehicle with the help of a K9 and found 32 grams of cocaine in a hidden compartment. Both suspects were arraigned in town court and are being held at Ulster County Jail.
