The Hudson Valley Property Owners Association is asking the Supreme Court to overturn Poughkeepsie’s adoption of the Emergency Tenant Protection Act.
The law allows a city to impose rent control if a study shows that the vacancy rate is 5% or less.
The association says that the city’s action on June 18 was illegal and based on faulty data.
The homeowner’s association alleges that the number is inaccurate.
