A state Supreme Court jury this week returned a $120 million verdict against Westchester Medical Center.
It's also being called the largest award ever in a medical malpractice case in the county.
It all stemmed from a stroke suffered by 41-year-old William Lee, of Elmsford, in November 2018.
According to Attorney Ben Rubinowitz, the hospital’s failure to timely diagnose and treat Lee caused extensive brain damage.
As a result, Lee is confined to a residential brain injury center for the rest of his life. His injuries also rendered him unable to live independently and to provide for his wife and children.
The jury’s verdict included awards for Lee’s future medical needs, his pain and suffering as well as for his wife’s loss of her husband’s services.
A Westchester Medical Center spokesperson said they had no comment on the verdict.
