4h agoThree local organizations recognized families battling pediatric cancer Saturday and Sen. Shelley Mayer’s efforts to help.
The Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Making Headway honored Mayer during an event in Irvington.
Organizers say she has introduced legislation that would mandate insurance companies to cover the costs of necessary evaluations for children with cancer.
The event was also held in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
