A Middletown man was charged Wednesday in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Police say the attack occurred outside the suspect?s home on Hanford Street. According to investigators, the 16-year-old girl was walking home from her boyfriend's house at about 2 a.m. Tuesday. They say she passed 53-year-old Abas Ali and he began to follow her. Police say the teen tried to lose Ali, but he grabbed her from behind, dragged her into a parked car and raped her.
Police say Ali has a criminal history and was apparently smoking crack before the attack. He could face other charges depending on a grand jury investigation.
