Some New Windsor city officials have spoken out against the plan proposed by the mayor of neighboring Newburgh to host the Sept. 11 terror trials.
Newburgh residents remain divided on Mayer Nicholas Valentine's proposal to move the trial from lower Manhattan to their town, with some people citing financial advantages while others expressing concerns about safety.
However, New Windsor Town Supervisor George Green says he is unequivocal in his opposition to hosting the trials not only in Newburgh, but anywhere in the U.S.
"I think it should stay in Guantanamo [Bay] and be tried as a military tribunal," Green says.
