The Department of Environmental Protection is reporting that it might be getting noisier in the Bronx and the rest of the city.Since the city's new noise code took effect July 1, the department says noise complaints have shot up more than 80 percent. The department claims its total number of complaints for July was 5,300. Under the new code, authorities no longer need to use a decible reader and can write citations for sounds that are audible. Among the new rules are that noise from bars and clubs can't be heard more than 15 feet away and dogs can't bark more than five minutes during the day.The Department of Environmental Protection says the new code was put in place due to an increase of calls to the city's 311 hotline.
