Police say a 13-year-old boy was stabbed three times in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday.
New Yorkers had flocked there this weekend to enjoy the warmest day of the spring so far.
Spectators who spoke to News 12 described it as a "mob scene," with 'hundreds' of teenagers running throughout the park, and clustered around Pier 2.
The teens eventually ran up to Joralemon Street. That is where neighbor Linda DiRosa says she spoke to some of the teens who were running. She says they were jumping on top of cars and that the scene was nothing like she had ever seen before on her block.
This time of year, DiRosa mentioned that the park tends to get rowdy but violence like this is something she never expected.
A Brooklyn Bridge Park spokesperson told News 12 in a statement on Monday that they learned about the chaos through social media. They say they alerted the 84th Precinct to get more of a police presence in the park. They said they are working with NYPD and City partners to "review" this incident and "strengthen" their "safety protocols."
