When David and Jo Medlar were married 39 years ago, they vowed to love each other in sickness and in health.
David recently made good on his promise. He gave his kidney to save his wife, who had been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease when the couple was dating.
Three months ago, doctors told Jo the disease could be fatal if a donor wasn't found soon.
David says that through all the years, he always hoped he could help her in some way. His hopes came true when he proved to be a match.
The couple plans to go on vacation once they have both fully recovered from their surgeries.
