Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R-Greenwood Lake) and Wallkill Town Supervisor John Ward toured an often flooded access road, which they said needs to be remedied.
The access road, which was built by the Department of Transportation (DOT), prevents water from flowing out of a field. Residents say since the road was built, their homes have flooded during storms.
Adjacent to the flooded homes is a cemetery with thousands of plots that also are in danger from floodwaters. Through the prodding of officials, the DOT has agreed to re-evaluate the road to see what can be done.
