For the hundreds of workers across the Hudson Valley who make their livings outside, there is no escaping this week?s heat wave.
DPW workers in Haverstraw made sure they stayed hydrated and took breaks in the shade as they set up sprinklers to hydrate a baseball field yesterday.
Lifeguards at Suffern Memorial Pool are working in 40-minute shifts to assure they stay alert and don?t get overheated.
"Just drink a lot of water,? lifeguard Adam DeStefano offers as a tip. ?Yesterday I went through about eight or nine bottles of water."
The lifeguards say they also wear sunscreen and take dips in the pool during their breaks to keep cool.
