Many P.S. 138 parents are outraged papers containing their children?s personal information were dumped behind the school.
Neighbors say the papers were behind the school in Castle Hill for several days. Parents say the papers contain phone numbers, addresses and Social Security numbers of current and former students as well as teachers. Many are now worried about identity theft.
The Department of Education says it is a policy to keep the information confidential and shred it if it is thrown out. Education officials are now promising parents a full investigation into why the papers were discarded on a street corner.
