BITTER BLAST

Arctic air takes hold of the Hudson Valley after first snowstorm.

Playland Ice Casino in Rye is now officially open for skating two years after Superstorm Sandy.
Westchester County made a 10-year agreement with American Skating, the largest owner of ice rinks in the nation, to run the facility. American Skating will also invest more than $1 million for even more improvements.
Sandy severely damaged the facility, destroying the roof. A $4.9 million renovation project has restored it to its original glory.
The county hopes to be reimbursed by the federal government for 90 percent of the renovation costs.
