The Yonkers Police Department is
speaking out to News 12 after an arrest incident that went viral on the social
media app, Tik Tok.
New police body
camera video of the incident obtained by News 12 shows the moments officers
arrested a woman back on July 11.
Police say she was
recklessly driving an unregistered moped on a busy sidewalk.
Investigators say
they tried to arrest her, but she ran away.
That's when
officers say they used a standard take-down technique to handcuff her.
Police say they
later found a knife in the front compartment of the moped.
Multiple viral
videos show the rapper, Styles-P trying to intervene in the arrest that he
described as mistreatment.
On his personal
Instagram, he said he was wrong for how he acted, but encouraged people to
speak up in situations that don't feel right.
Police claim the
woman has been charged with reckless driving, obstruction of governmental
administration second-degree and resisting arrest.
She also received
six summonses, according to officials.
Yonkers police
released a statement reading in part, "The Yonkers Police Department
routinely conducts full investigations into all uses of force by our
officers."
The
early stages of this investigation revealed that no strikes were used at any
time during the incident and no force was used after handcuffs were applied.
