The pretrial for a man charged with brutally killing a Rockland woman began Tuesday.Mary Nagle, 42, was raped and murdered in her New City home in April. The man accused of the crime is 29-year-old Ronald Douglas Herrera Castellanos. Police say he broke into the Nagles' home while he was supposed to be power washing the house. Castellanos is charged with both first-degree and second-degree murder. A first-degree murder conviction could mean life in prison without parole for the illegal alien from Guatemala. Pretrial hearings will resume Thursday and jury selection is expected to begin February 27.
