Mia L'Oiseau, a senior at Stratford High School, was worried about the high cost of prom dresses - until she learned about a prom dress giveaway taking place this weekend.
"I was absolutely thrilled, and I can't wait to go and get a prom dress," Mia told News 12 Wednesday.
Radio host Kevin Begley, of Star 99.9, came up with the idea.
He organized the event in partnership with local businesses, including Executive Cleaners in Milford, which volunteered to dry clean the dresses, Begley said.
"What's so amazing about this event is that everyone came together to remove a cost barrier - and to help young people attend their proms without the burden of having to buy a prom dress," Begley said. "We are so grateful to our community partners - Napoli Motors and Duchess Restaurants - for making this incredible event possible."
The giveaway is taking place at Vazzano's Four Seasons in Stratford on Saturday at 10 a.m., Begley said.
"It's first-come, first-serve and you'll need to present a valid high school ID," he said.
