You don't need a passport to enjoy a traditional British afternoon tea.

Florrie Kaye's Tearoom in Brewster is giving Hudson Valley residents a chance to experience authentic English tea service, homemade desserts and classic British hospitality.

Owner Samantha Ramos says the tearoom was inspired by a tradition she shared with her mother.

"Afternoon tea was something very special that my mother and I did during any time we were celebrating anything special in the family," Ramos said.

Guests can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea service complete with finger sandwiches, British tea scones, homemade desserts and fresh fruit.

The tearoom also offers an extensive tea menu featuring 105 different varieties, including black teas, green teas, herbal teas, fruit teas and oolong selections.

One popular specialty drink is the Indigo Punch, made with butterfly pea flower.

Beyond tea service, Florrie Kaye's serves brunch and lunch, including gourmet burgers and family recipes such as savory scones passed down through generations.

The tearoom's dining rooms are decorated with donated china from customers, giving the space a unique and personal touch.

A small gift shop offers specialty items, including traditional English candies, while a bakery counter features house-made desserts available for takeaway.

Ramos says one of the best parts of the experience is encouraging people to slow down and enjoy the moment.

"People like to come in and be able to drink out of a teacup and pour a pot of tea," Ramos said. "It's just something so unique and different."

Florrie Kaye's Tearoom is open Tuesday through Sunday, and afternoon tea is available without advance notice, though reservations are also accepted.
