A family in Rockland is asking for community assistance as medical bills related to her Lou Gehrig's disease diagnosis increase.
Edna Borge was diagnosed with ALS in 2017. ALS is a progressive degenerative disease that destroys the neurons that control voluntary muscles.
Since the diagnosis, she’s become completely paralyzed and requires 24/7 care that’s put a strain on family finances.
“Realistically it hasn’t been easy, but you know what? We have to move on,” says family member Marlon Borge.
Edna Borge remains optimistic, telling News 12, “There’s a lot of positives in our family, so I’m very, very grateful.”
A friend launched a GoFundMe campaign for the Rockland woman. To donate, visit the website.
