Say hello to March and a wild temperature swing

Temperatures will go from "spring-like" to "mid-winter" this weekend.  The shower chances are low to none until mid-week, next week.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The month of February is coming to a close and so is meteorological winter. Spring-like vibes have been felt through much of this week, though. It felt like we had a little "meteorological spring break" in the Hudson Valley with temps into the 50s and fair skies more times than not. Sadly, this weekend will see some big changes come around. Temperatures will rise into the low to mid-50s midday, around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A cold front will approach the region in the afternoon, and that is when the temperatures will start to cool down...and cool down a lot! The winds will pick up as well, helping to make the air feel even colder. Saturday night will be a stark contrast to Saturday morning and as the overnight hours progress, temperatures will get even colder.
  • Sunday morning has the potential to have see temperatures into the teens and feel closer to zero degrees! It is not the type of weather you want to be out and about in without a few layers. Temperatures will stay frigid all-day Sunday and stay rather cold for Monday. But afterwards, warmth starts to return starting Tuesday.
  • Tuesday is partly cloudy and breezy at times, with temps back into the 40s. By Wednesday, temperatures are rising into the 50s, but we're also seeing the rain chances rise as well. Get ready for a soggy day mid-week, with breezy winds as well. The rain is sorely needed as much of the region is experiencing some level of drought.
