Students in Newburgh returned to the classroom today after parents were notified that a BB gun was found in the bushes at a school.

A letter from the district stated that a security guard found and secured the item at Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School. The cartridge of the weapon was empty.

The district says a student brought the BB gun to school grounds and will face punishment based on the District Code of Conduct.

The letter also said no ill intent was expressed by the student.
