The state Attorney General?s office is launching an investigation into the rent practices of the Pinnacle Group in the Bronx and throughout the city.
Residents in Allerton say they are drawn to the Pinnacle Group?s apartments because they are recently refurbished and have new appliances. However, they say they are being severely overcharged as the landlord hikes rents to illegal highs. One resident says he signed a lease to pay $1,050 each month, only to learn the previous tenant paid almost half that amount.
A spokeswoman for the public advocate says her office is also looking into the Pinnacle Group?s rental practices. Bronx residents can call 212-669-7250 to report problems to the Public Advocate?s office.
