State trooper dies from 9/11 related illness

Retired Sergeant Ivan M. Morales passed away on Friday. Sergeant Morales was a member of the NYPD during his assignment to the World Trade Center search and recovery efforts.

A 17-year veteran of the state police has died following an illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
Retired Sgt. Ivan M. Morales passed away on Friday. Sgt. Morales was a member of the NYPD during his assignment to the World Trade Center search and recovery efforts.
Sgt. Morales joined the New York State Police in 2005 and served with the state police for over 17 years before entering retirement in 2022. Sgt. Morales was assigned to Troop T at the time of his retirement.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
His viewing and funeral services are later this week in Catskill.
