Police say a 16-year-old boy has confessed to writing a bomb threat inside Pearl River High School Tuesday.
Police say the threat, which prompted an evacuation and early dismissal, was found written on a bathroom mirror around noon. School officials say students were first evacuated to the gym, which was inspected and deemed safe, while they waited for buses.
The Rockland County Sheriff?s Department Bomb Squad was called in to investigate. After reviewing hallway surveillance video outside the bathroom, police were able to question a student who they say later confessed. That student may face possible charges.
It is not the first time a bomb threat occurred at the school. In September, the entire Pearl River School District was shut down after school officials got an e-mail claiming there was a bomb in one of the district's buildings.
