Students mourn death of popular teacher
Students and faculty members at Monroe-Woodbury High School mourned the death of a popular language teacher Monday who was found shot to death over the weekend.
Police have ruled the deaths of 51-year-old Hiria Kojtari and her husband, 60-year-old Kimet Kojtari, a murder-suicide. Kimet Kojtari shot Hiria twice in their Newburgh home before turning the gun on himself, authorities say.
Students say Hiria Kojtari was one of their favorite teachers in the school. She worked at Monroe-Woodbury for nearly eight years. Sean Salaman, who was in her French class twice, says she was the only reason he took the language.
