Suffern police have a new weapon at their disposal Friday to control unruly suspects.
Officers are being trained to use Taser guns instead of bullets when confronted by someone in an alcohol intoxicated or drug induced, demented state. The Taser?s hit will incapacitate any suspect who might be putting up a struggle. Police say since the probes stay in, the suspect can be shocked again if necessary.
The Suffern police chief says the officers are being trained to only use the Taser guns when absolutely necessary.
