A Sullivan County mother who lost her son in a car crash is now suing Preferred Mutual after she claims they wrongfully closed the case for $7,500.
Jared Santillo, 19, was killed in 2016 on Route 6 in Greenville after the car he was a passenger in lost control and hit a utility pole.

Santilo was among a group of five people taking a friend to the hospital after the friend fell into a bonfire at a party.
His mother, Goldie Moore, was suing the homeowner and says Preferred Mutual is wrongfully claiming she settled in 2018 when there’s $1 million in coverage.
“They put my son’s value at life at not even a used car,” said Moore. “The only thing that keeps me going every day is hoping for justice.”
