The Town of Haverstraw Police Department says a man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that happened earlier this month.
Detectives say Yandie Martinez was arrested Saturday at 1:20 p.m. in Piedmont, South Carolina in a collaborative effort by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, FBI-Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and the FBI-Columbia Division.
Martinez is suspected of killing 29-year-old Christian Alvarado, of Pomona. Investigators say Alvarado was shot while he drove down Fairmont Avenue back on July 1.
Alvarado was treated for his injuries at the scene and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Haverstraw police say there will be a news conference where they will release additional information about the arrest Monday at 9 a.m. in Garnerville.
