Both directions of Route 59 from Bobby Lane to Palisades
Center Drive were blocked off due to several inches of floodwater on Tuesday
night, and the Clarkstown supervisor said parts may remain closed until
Wednesday morning.
Police advised drivers to avoid the area and divert
through the Palisades Center Mall. Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann
said commuters should expect at least a portion of the road to be
closed Wednesday morning.
Supervisor Hoehmann anticipated that conditions would worsen as
high winds could knock down trees and cause power outages.
He says crews were prepared to respond to storm damage.
