The driver of a truck struck by a freight train in Tappan Wednesday managed to escape without injury.
The driver, whose identity has not been released yet, was making a delivery to a nearby business. He was inside the car when it was hit by a CSX train and felt the impact.
Witnesses say the driver tried to get out of the way but was blocked by another vehicle.
"There was somebody right behind him, and he couldn't back up in time," says Sara Djekovic. "The train came by and that was it ? thank God he made it out alive."
Investigators are still trying to find out what caused the accident. The driver has not yet been ticketed.
The crash shut down the railroad crossing at Old Tappan Road for three hours.
