Former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer is blasting a newspaper article Monday that claims he made "ugly" comments against his Democratic challenger Senator Hillary Clinton.
A front page article in the NY Daily News reports Spencer called the former first lady ugly and that he speculated she had millions of dollars in plastic surgery. Spencer, however, says he absolutely denies making any such comments. He is accusing Daily News reporter Ben Smith of lying about the conversation they had on a plane ride last Friday. But Smith stands by his article, saying he is surprised that Spencer denies the comments since his campaign manager did not contest them. Smith said all he was asked to leave out of the story was the portion on Spencer's comments on attorney general candidate Jeanine Pirro.
Meantime, Clinton advisor Howard Wolfson responded by saying the senator has had no plastic surgery. He called Spencer's allegations "insulting and offensive."
