Crews worked to replace a sewer main Saturday in Orangeburg, causing Route 303 between Erie Street and Orangeburg Road to close.
The road was shut down on Friday as crews started their work. It was expected to reopen on Monday morning, but engineers that News 12 spoke with said it could open as soon as tonight.
It's news that Baldemar Nolasco is waiting to hear. He works at Our Town Car Wash & Quick Lube, one of the many businesses located along on Route 303 that were impacted by the closure.
"They blocked the other side, too... We're missing customers," Nolasco said.
Signs that were posted near the closure indicated that drivers were allowed to travel on Route 303 if they were heading to one of the businesses along the road. So, Nolasco and a worker from a restaurant stood near an intersection to flag customers down.
Parts of Route 303 were still closed as of Saturday night.
Drivers that News 12 spoke with said the closures and detours were frustrating.
