Westchester
County is pledging help for Hurricane Ida victims, many of whom are still
living in hotels.
County
Executive George Latimer says he toured Brook Lane in Rye Brook the day after
Ida flooded more than a dozen homes.
Some of
those residents are still living in a hotel, but that
assistance ends for most families on Oct. 31.
The county
executive says families can request an extension which will be approved on a
case by case basis. "I understand why many people are upset. They've lost
everything. It’s a very emotional situation and it makes people
frustrated," says Latimer.
Latimer
also says the county is prepared to put funding toward long term
projects to mitigate future flooding.
